Mediterranean Donkeys have been bred at Hamerton
for many years. These charming little animals make
wonderful pets, and our foals have found homes all over the
country. Lots of human attention from birth and plenty of
contact with other animals ensures every foal will make the
perfect addition to the family; companions for people of all
ages.
The stud has been expanded in
recent years with the arrival of both jacks and jennies,
imported from several selected bloodlines in the USA. Each
year a number of foals should be available, so please
contact us for more information. Visitors are always
welcome, by appointment please.
In addition to the promotion of
the Miniature Mediterranean Donkey, two other projects are
under way, both involving the importation of new stock. We
are delighted to be able to take part in the conservation of
the Baudet-du-Poitou, and have brought a
number of animals over from France to form the nucleus of
our herd. Equally exciting is the arrival of our first
spotted American Mammoth Jackstock, which
we hope will see the establishment of the World's largest
donkey breed in England.
All our donkeys of all three
breeds are quality pedigree animals, registered with one or
more of the breed societies listed on our links page.
Nowhere else will you see such a variety of donkeys ranging
from 29" Miniature jack 'Carl Perkins' to 61" Mammoth jack 'Estiffanugla'.
